BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Lesotho will adhere to the one-China policy and support the "one country, two systems" policy of China on the Taiwan issue, said Ntlhoi Motsamai, speaker of the National Assembly, here on Tuesday.
During her meeting with Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo, Motsamai spoke highly of Chinese achievements in economic development and democracy, as well as China's contributions to regional and world peace and prosperity.
Lesotho cherishes relationship with China and hopes that cooperation will be further expanded in political, economic, cultural and other aspects, she told Wu in the Great Hall of the People.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, appreciated Lesotho's adherenceto the one-China policy, saying bilateral ties witnessed sound development since diplomatic ties resumed in 1994.
"The bilateral ties experienced twist and setbacks. However, inrecent years, our cooperation fields expanded and we maintained consultation and cooperation in international issues," Wu said.
As both developing countries, China and Lesotho shoulder responsibility to boost economy and improve people's life quality,Wu said, spoke highly of Lesotho's achievements in domestic and foreign affairs.
China attaches importance to the ties with Lesotho and will make joint efforts to enhance cooperation in all fields, he told Motsamai, who is on her first official visit to China.
As the new start of exchange between NPC and the Lesotho National Assembly, the current visit by Motsamai will contribute to explore new method for exchange and cooperation, enhance mutualtrust between the two countries and two peoples and increase knowledge about each other, Wu noted. Enditem |
