Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Lei Kezhong Presented Letter of Credence to the King of Lesotho

On 21 August 2019, H.E. Mr. Lei Kezhong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Lesotho, presented the Letter of Credence to His Majesty King Letsie III at the Royal Palace.

 

H.E. Mr. Lei conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes of President Xi Jinping to His Majesty the King. He highly commended the sound development of China-Lesotho relations since the resumption of diplomatic ties between both sides in 1994. He stressed that China deeply valued its relations with Lesotho, and wished to, through joint efforts, expedite the implementation of the outcomes of the 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit as well as the important consensus of the leaders from both sides, to make the China-Lesotho relationship a good example of bilateral relations featuring mutual respect, win-win cooperation, common development and equality of all countries regardless of their sizes.

 

H.E. Mr. Lei said that as the Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho, he was keenly aware of the responsibility entrusted to him, and would exert all his efforts to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples, and to cement and deepen the China-Lesotho relationship.

 

        His Majesty King Letsie III extended warm welcome to H.E Mr. Lei, and asked him to convey cordial greetings to H.E. President Xi Jinping. He expressed that Lesotho attached great value to the strong and warm relations that have existed between the two countries and peoples, and highly appreciated China for the assistance and support to Lesotho over the years. He said Lesotho wished to expand and build stronger cooperation in various sectors under the framework of the FOCAC. He also wished Ambassador Lei smooth work and happy life in Lesotho.  

 

H.E. Mr. Lei then inspected the guard of honour of Lesotho Defence Force accompanied by Chief of Protocol Mr. Masuhla H. Leteka. Hon. Deputy Foreign Minister of Lesotho Halebonoe Sets'abi, Director of Asia & Pacific Directorate Mr. Matete Nena as well as Political Counsellor Mr. Song Changqing, Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Affairs Mr. Ma Guoliang from the Chinese Embassy, attended the above events.

 

H.E. Ambassador Lei Kezhong arrived in Lesotho on 1 August 2019.
