On August 11, 2005, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with visiting Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gholamali Khoshroo. Both sides exchanges views on the current Iranian nuclear issue. Li expressed China's consistent proposition on properly resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through diplomacy and negotiations. In light of the current situation, he also expressed the hope that the parties concerned would maintain patience and continue constructive cooperation to achieve an early settlement of the issue within the organizational framework. Khoshroo briefed Li on the position and considerations of the Iranian government and thanked China for its efforts to push for the settlement of Iran's nuclear issue.

Both sides also exchanged views on China-Iran relations.
