Assistant Foreign Minister Shen Guofang Attends the Ceremony for the Establishment of the East Asian Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in China

On July 20, 2005, Assistant Foreign Minister Shen Guofang, along with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Jakob Kellenberger, unveiled the plaque for the East Asia Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Shen delivered a speech on behalf of the Chinese government to welcome the establishment of the East Asian Office of the ICRC, hoping the two sides can strengthen their friendly cooperative relations and make joint efforts to promote the development of international humanitarian cause in the region.

Kellenberger indicated that the establishment of the East Asian Office of the ICRC will further promote bilateral friendly cooperative relations.

The Executive Vice President of the Red Cross Society of China Jiang Yiman, envoys from foreign embassies in China and representatives from related international organizations attended the meeting.
