Chinese Ambassador Sun Xianghua Attended Bursary Donation to Lesia and Masowe High School

On the 22nd February 2018, the Ambassador of P.R China H.E Dr Sun Xianghua attended a Bursary donation to the needy students of the Lesia and Masowe high school of Maseru by the China-Lesotho People-to-People Friendship Action Fund (CLPPFAF). Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hon. Maphoka Motoboli and her colleagues, Principals of the above mentioned schools and their faculties and students, representatives of the Chinese Community, and journalists from local media houses were also present at the occasion.


Ambassador Sun and Mr. Chen Kehui, President of the CLPPFAF handed over the cheques to Hon. Motoboli, who passed them over to the Principals of the schools. A total of forty students from both schools will benefit from the bursary. Ambassador Sun, Hon. Motoboli and other officials also handed over school bags and balls to the representatives of the students.


 Ambassador Sun indicated in his speech that both China and Lesotho attach great importance to education, which has been an important area for China-Lesotho cooperation over the years. He pointed out that education is the most wise and rewarding area of investment which should be given top priority. He urged the beneficiaries of the bursary to treasure the assistance and study  hard to achieve a brighter future.


Hon Motoboli spoke highly of the China-Lesotho practical cooperation and friendship, emphasizing that China is a key partner for the development of Lesotho, not only in education but in many other areas. She extended sincere appreciation to the Fund and Chinese Embassy and pointed out that many young Basotho, through the generous assistance from the Chinese community, are now able to continue their education.


Mr. Chen pointed that it's the fourth consecutive year that the Chinese community donated bursaries to the young Basotho students of Lesia and Masowe high Schools. He said the Chinese Community was sensitised by the requisite needs of Basotho, hence the timely donation from the CLPPFAF.
