Ambassador Sun Xianghua Attended the Launch of Water Supply Project at China-Lesotho Friendship Middle School

On 27 September 2017, H.E. Dr. Sun Xianghua, Ambassador of China, attended the launch of the water supply project at the China-Lesotho Friendship Middle School in Berea District. Hon. Samonyane Ntsekele, Minister of Water, Hon. Mokhele Moletsane, Minister of Education, Hon. Motlatsi Maqelepo, Member of Parliament for Berea Constituency, senior officials from relevant ministries, local government officials including the District Administrator, representatives of the local community, journalists, and teachers and students from the School also attended the event. Through this project, the Friendship School will have enough water access to better contribute the education development of Lesotho.


In his remarks, Ambassador Sun commended the Ministry of Water for its concern and effort on solving the water shortage at the Friendship School, which showed the importance attached by the Lesotho government on bilateral cooperation projects and its support to the cause of education development. Ambassador Sun also encouraged the students to study hard and make contributions to consolidate and deepen the friendship between the two countries.


Hon. Ntsekele expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its help and support to the Lesotho people. He explained that, in order to make the Friendship School play a bigger role, the Ministry of Water decided to launch this project to meet the water shortage at the School and the community around.


Hon. Moletsane said the Lesotho government is devoted to developing quality, relevant and equitable education, and therefore thanked Chinese government's support to this effort and thanked the Ministry of Water for its support to education infrastructure.
