On 30 April , the Embassy together with the Confucius Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology and the Confucius Classroom in Lesotho jointly held a Chinese Language Day Celebration at the National University of Lesotho. Prince Seeiso, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations and the Ministry of Education, as well as over 500 teachers and students from the National University of Lesotho and its affiliated schools attended the celebration.
Ambassador Yang introduced the background and significance of the Chinese Language Day, emphasizing that the first Chinese Language Day Celebration held in Lesotho is an innovative move in cultural and educational cooperation between China and Lesotho, and an important outcome of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He expressed the hope that young people in Lesotho would learn and use Chinese well and become envoys of China-Lesotho friendship.
Prince Seeiso shared his experience of studying in China, emphasizing that China not only helps Lesotho develop its economy and improve people's livelihoods, but also attaches great importance to cultural and ideological exchanges with Lesotho, continuously consolidating public support for bilateral relations.
A young diplomat from the Embassy introduced the legend of Cangjie inventing characters. Splendid and diverse Chinese and Basotho cultural performances elicited an enthusiastic and heartfelt response from the audience.
