Lesotho is blessed with scenic splendours and hard-working people. In recent years, the Government and people of Lesotho, actively exploring a road of development compatible with the country's specific conditions, have worked hard towards social stability, national reconciliation and economic growth, and attained gratifying achievements in building up the country. Lesotho pursues a policy of non-alignment, good neighbourliness and friendship, actively taking part in regional economic cooperation for the promotion of regional integration. The Chinese Government and people appreciate all these, and wish Lesotho Government and people still greater progress on the road of economic and social development.

 

The friendship between China and Lesotho dates back to ancient times despite geographic distance between our two countries. Since the resumption of diplomatic relations between our two countries, bilateral ties have kept a good momentum of growth with ever-expanding cooperation in various fields. In international affairs, our two countries support and trust each other. The Chinese Government appreciates Lesotho's adherence to the one-China policy, and cherishes China-Lesotho traditional friendship, and is ready to work together with Lesotho for the development of friendly relations and cooperation characterized by long-tem stability, sound growth, equality and mutual benefit.

 

I was sent to Lesotho 10 years ago to take part in the work for the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Lesotho and then worked at the Chinese Embassy in Maseru for three years. Now upon taking up the assignment as Ambassador to Lesotho, I feel gratified to see that our bilateral relations have entered a new period of all-round development, and at the same time, I feel the weight of responsibility on my shoulders. During my tenure of office, I will exert my efforts to further the friendship between our two peoples, and strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between our two countries.
